Leeds Print Festival 2014

www.leedsprintfestival.com Leeds Print Festival is back for its third year, celebrating contemporary and traditional printmaking processes, for a week of events at venues across the city later this month, including opening night celebrations, a print fair, exhibitions and a series of talks. The opening night, on Friday 24 January, will be held at Leeds Gallery, also home to this year's main exhibition. There will be a chance to get inked up and create your own prints, with Bradford-based The Print Project and Nomad Press. There will also be a showcase of work, Colours May Vary, exhibited at Café 164. The full line-up for this year's Print Talks is yet to be announced, but so far speakers include illustrator Mr Bingo and CR editor Patrick Burgoyne. Your paper ticket for the talks can also be exchanged on the day at the venue, Leeds College of Music, for a beautifully letterpress-printed ticket. A variety of exhibitors will be at the Print Fair, including Dust, Papercut Bindery, Print For Good, The Print Project, Nomad Press, Caroline Pratt, Leeds College of Art Graphic Design course, Futile Vignette, Caroline Rerrie, Esther Mcmanus and Ditto. For 2014, organiser Amber Smith wanted to do more to support and encourage the involvement of creative indusdries at a local level. "This year we have adopted a more in-house approach by attempting to keep all the design and production within Yorkshire," says Smith. "Leeds has changed a lot in recent years with so many independent studios, events and spaces opening that we have benefited greatly from being part of that community." Students work in exhibition at Visual Carlow Dec 12th 2013

A Seven Part Response Work by students from Dun Laoghaire Institute of Art and Design VISUAL Centre for Contemporary Art, CARLOW 13 December- 5 January 2014 VISUAL Centre for Contemporary Art would like to invite you to the opening of A Seven Part Response Ciara Roche, Roisin Cash, Deneige Hudson, Roberta Murray & Hugh McGettigan, K. A. M. McGill, Marcella Gomolova, Kerrie O Mahony Thursday 12 December at 3pm For this exhibition students from IADT in Dun Laoghaire have engaged with VISUAL Carlow and its current gallery programme. A Seven Part Response reflects on what it is to make work that considers location and context. In conjunction with this project, Six Pockets a sound installation created by the group will be performed at The Drawing Project in Dun Laoghaire at 2.00pm on Tuesday the 17th of December. This exhibition is a Co-op project for VISUAL and has been kindly supported by Carlow Local Authorities Arts Office and Dun Laoghaire Institute of Art Design and Technology

Emerging Artist Publication Series Callout

________________________________________ Emerging Artists Publication Series Call for Submissions Printed Matter is pleased to announce a call for submissions for a new Emerging Artists Publication Series. Five selected artists will work with the support of Printed Matter and a dedicated designer to realize individual projects. Books will be published in a loose serialized format and share a common dimension, spine and colophon, but the content will otherwise be left to the artist. This Emerging Artists Publication Series is made possible by the support of the Jerome Foundation, and is open to individuals with a legal address in the five boroughs of New York City. Submissions are open to emerging artists whose practice has demonstrated a commitment to experimentation within the artists' book medium in unusual and exciting ways.
